I am on-again, off-again coffee drinker. I’ll go through long stints where I am deeply attached to a morning cup, only to suddenly switch to hot black tea with milk and honey. Currently, coffee and I are hot and heavy, so when the folks at Moustache Coffee Club got in touch and asked if I wanted to team up for a giveaway, I said yes.

Based in Los Angeles, Moustache is a coffee subscription club where you can opt to get a bag of gently roasted, single origin beans on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. They roast and ship on the same day in the hopes of getting you the freshest beans possible.

They sent me a 12 ounce bag of their Colombian beans (I was told that these beans were a medium roast, which is a little darker than their norm) and asked if I might like to make something with them. And so, I did.

I made a sweetened coffee concentrate to use in making a Thai iced coffee analog (which I will drink sitting on a park bench, if warmer days ever come). I measured out 3 ounces of beans and ground them quite fine (I have this grinder and I love it. It’s pricy, but good for coffee obsessives).

I measured 1 cup of organic cane sugar into a pint sized mason jar and set the coffee filter up over it, and brewed a very strong 12 or so ounces of coffee right into the sugar.

Once the jar was nearly full with coffee, I removed the coffee filter and used a small whisk to help dissolve the sugar into the coffee. It only took a 30 seconds or so of careful stirring until the sugar and coffee were fully integrated.

I put a lid on the jar and once it was cool, popped it into the fridge. It’ll keep for a few weeks.
In addition to making a faux Thai iced coffee (traditionally, it’s made with sweetened condensed milk and freshly brewed coffee, but I find that this method makes for a faster cup and I don’t have to deal with sticky containers of sweetened condensed milk), I also occasionally will stir some of the concentrate into fizzy water for a coffee-flavored Italian soda.

Now, for the giveaway. The nice folks at Moustache Coffee Club want to give one Food in Jars reader a 12 ounce bag of their coffee. Here’s how to enter:

I think a hot mocha is my favorite. Though I also love it iced.
black tea with whole milk, boring but good.
I love a giant cup of very strong coffee in the morning but switch my allegiance to a nice cup of Earl Grey later in the day.
that’s easy, coffee!
My morning joy a cup of pour-over coffee with milk -something I have made just about every morning for 30+ years.
Right now I’m on a hot tea kick, but at times black coffee is my favorite warm beverage.
To me, there is nothing finer than a well-made cappuccino. It’s rich, it’s velvety, it’s energizing – what more can you ask for?
Rooibos masala chai made with chai spices from India, with some milk product and just a bit of maple syrup.
I love a hot cup of coffee in the morning.
Soy lattes are my favorite.
Like you, I go back and forth. I love all teas and coffee! I usually do one cup of each a day to minimize the jitters.
Hot chocolate, because I guess I am a child at heart. But I also really dig tea, chai, and the occasional coffee 🙂
Chai! And hot cocoa.
I made it through this winter thanks to nightly hot cups of tulsi-lemon verbena tea with a slice of Meyer lemon!
Coffee, as dark, hot and fresh as possible!!
really want to try this recipe.
Cold brewed, with milk and a touch of maple syrup. Love coffee! Thanks for the giveaway!
Fresh coffee with a touch of chic and cinnamon.
coffee, coffee and more coffee. With a little half and half.
I love coffee but if I want a treat I make hot chocolate with marshmallows. If I want to make it an adult beverage I will use one of Baily’s many flavors.
For every day, I love to brew tea to the point it’s strong enough to dissolve spoons, but I do love homemade cocoa, especially when I can throw a shot of Frangelico or Kahlua in it 🙂
Mmmm, I’ve been craving coffee all week. I’ve been trying to cut out excess sugar, so I’ve been having this apple caramel almond black tea all the time lately. It smells so good I can at least pretend it has sugar in it.
My morning favorite these days is Earl grey with cream and honey but it canges regularly lol I brew jasmine tea most evenings
I LOVE vanilla chai lattes with a shot of espresso–the smoky, bitter espresso really complements the spices in the chai, and the vanilla sweetens everything up!
My favorite hot drink is tea – I drink one to four or five cups a day.
My favorite hot beverage is a latte with extra foam. No sugar or sweet n low.
Coffee. Just coffee. It’s a morning requirement. I might have a bit of an addiction, but I’m okay with it. 🙂
I love a good mocha in the morning!
An English Cuppa 🙂
My favorite warm drink is coffee, obviously! but no cup of coffee comes close to that very first cup in the morning. Why is that? I don’t know, but that cup — specifically — is my favorite warm drink.
Coffee. Hands down.
My favorite warm drink is soup.
I love my morning cup of coffee, not for the caffeine, just for the beautiful flavor. It starts my day better.
I am a bit of a coffee nut. I love coffee anytime of day. But for the holidays or as the air starts to cool in fall, I enjoy a hot cup of spiced apple cider. It screams autumn, warm fires and cool, crisp air. Plus, it makes my home smell delicious. But then, so does freshly brewed coffee. I guess I really do love coffee.
Assam tea with a splash of milk is my go to warm drink. My husband loves coffee, though, so this is up his alley.
I’d love to try this coffee. It is not always easy to get good coffee, so the idea of having it delivered is very appealing
I just love coffee. After working as a 3rd, shift nurse for 25 years, I can drink it from hot to cold. I would fix a cup ane something would happen, and by the time I got back to it, it would be cold.
A nice cup of warm Black Coffee with a little cinnamon swirled in on a Winter morning is my favorite warm drink
I love a good vanilla chai or white mocha
Constant Comment Hot Tea.
I love cafe au laits and/or a hot milk earl grey tea 🙂
Dark roast, fresh ground, hot black coffee. Plain and simple.
We love hot chocolate or soothers in our house!
My fave is to take freshly brewed coffee poured over a bowl of homemade vanilla ice cream. Yum!
By far, my favorite hot beverage is coffee. I love even the smell of it. If I could I would drink it all day, but then I’d never sleep.
I like tea but it’s a distant second.
Hazelnut lattes
It’s a toss up between a chai and a vanilla breve 🙂
Thanks for the chance to win such a FAB prize!
xo
I can’t wait to try to coffee syrup. I love iced coffee and here is a way to incorporate it with sparkling water. But there is still nothing like an espresso shot with a lemon twist like we drank it in Italy.
I have to say that pumpkim coffee is my all time favorite. I have a pod maker and dwhen I run out of the k cups I will make my own using a good coffee and pumpkin spice. I love this in the morning, every morning but at beed time I like to have a cuppa tea. I have a variety of flavored teas and vary them all every night.
Loved your recipe for the chai coffee. I have got to try it.
Coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee, coffee.
Espresso with little foamed vanilla milk is the only way for me.
