Yesterday afternoon, my mom, sister, nephew and I ran a few errands and eventually found ourselves on Hawthorne Blvd. Throughout my life, Hawthorne has always had a handful of vintage shops, music stores and restaurants and during my high school years, we thought it was so cool to wander aimlessly up and down it in girl-packs of three or four.
Later today, I’ll be at Pastaworks, a gourmet market attached to the Hawthorne Home & Garden Powell’s, talking about canning, signing books and fulfilling my childhood dream of having an event that’s associated with Powell’s Books. It’s from 2-4 pm and if you’re in Portland, I’d love to see you there!
I stumbled upon you blog recently via LifeHacker. I live alone and love the idea of small batch canning. I have ordered a 4th burner pot as suggested and have started stockpiling local strawberries to start making some jam. I am super excited to use some of your recipies. Oh, and I rushed out and bought your book too….just couldent resist.
Powell, what an author dream come true!
Congratulations on your fabulous book – it’s a welcome addition to my accumulation!
It was also nice to meet you in person at Pastaworks; met and had a great talk with your dad too, clearly one of your biggest fans!
It sounds like your book tour is going well. Congrats!
I bought an e-version of your book last night and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve made the rhubarb syrup and the strawberry vanilla jam and I am so excited. I just bookmarked about another 2 dozen recipes that I can’t wait to try. Thank you for publishing this book and sharing your recipes with us!
