I feel like my biggest accomplishment this week was making a small pot of chicken stew entirely out of things I already possessed. It included two different half jars of salsa that were taking up space in the fridge, the last jar of black beans from this project, and half a bag of withered kale. We ate it topped with cheese and were happy. Now, some links.
- Pickled parsnips, with parsley.
- Rosehip syrup.
- Muffins. Morning glory and citrus poppy.
- Feeding a crowd? Try this chili.
- Single serving Meyer lemon quiches.
- No bake cherry chia almond granola bars.
- We are in the midst of a potato revolution!
- Folk singer and jam maker Rachel Ries is touring in February. Check and see if she’s coming to your town!
Wow. You guys are really excited about the purple jars that Ball Canning is releasing this year! The two winners of my giveaway were #368/Denise and #1033/Barbara Logan. Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter! I hope you all have purple jars in your life soon!
I found the purple jars at our local K-Mart this past weekend. I can’t wait to figure out what will go inside. The green heritage jars were also on sale, so I stocked up for summer pickling.
What a homey photo! Makes me want to get my grandmother’s hoosier cabinet shipped from the other coast!
Ditto! I noticed that rack in the back corner too. What a great space saving way to store (and display) your pots! I’d love to know where you got it.
Robin, see my response to Jen above. 🙂
I was so excited about the purple jars that I checked Fred Meyer last night. Too soon, apparently! They still had some green jars left, and I might get another box or two of those. In the housewares section, though, they had some light blue Mason jars — they look like painted glass instead of colored glass — and I had a hard time persuading my partner to wait for the purple. 🙂
Definitely wait for the Ball jars. The painted ones aren’t food safe.
I love making a new yummy meal out of what’s left in my fridge.
I notice the rack in the corner of this picture holding all of your bright pots. Can you post where you bought this? I’ve heard you talk about your tiny kitchen & I’d love to see some of your organization ideas for it.
Jen, that is the 8 tier Enclume cookware stand. I bought it a few years ago from Williams-Sonoma, but it’s also available from other sellers. I just checked, and the price is about $50 higher now than it was when I bought it. It’s been amazing, though. I can’t imagine what I’d do with all my cookware without it.
Congratulations to Barbara and Denise on the win
I am excited! And I emailed you.
