Cookbook Jitters

I first heard on Sunday. Amazon had copies of my book in stock and would be shipping them this week. I thought they wouldn’t start arriving until Friday, but this morning, a few friends got in touch to say that they’d gotten their copies today.

And then, when I checked my own mail, I found one waiting for me there (because I am a goofball, I ordered myself a copy through Amazon. I wanted the experience of having it appear in that familiar box).

I don’t entirely know how to articulate how this all feels. I’m thrilled, nervous and entirely freaked out. All I can say is that I hope you guys like it and that it finds a comfortable place in your kitchens.

  9. YAY – there’s a nook version too! Have you seen what it will look like on a nook? I don’t have the nook color so I might have to read it using the nook software on a laptop because of the pictures. I may have to get that for me and a regular book for my daughter!

I might give everyone I know a copy for Christmas. Or sooner if I cannot wait…..

  26. How exciting for YOU! I’ve also pre ordered and they’ve notified me it’s on the way. HURRAY. Great Job! Gotta get my canning supplies in order for sure now! LOL
Our peach trees are loaded and the cherries look to be having a good season as well. Hope the weather holds. We’ll give the book a real workout.

  27. So very exciting. I can’t even imagine. Maybe one day. In the meantime, congratulations to you! What a huge accomplishment and something to be so proud of. BTW, I just signed up for your June class in L.A. Looking forward to meeting you in person and learning some fun things about canning.

  28. Saw your post here and immediately popped over to Amazon to order it with Prime. I can’t wait until it comes! It was telling me it takes an extra 1-2 days to process though. Hopefully not! I’ve been trying to only get books from the library, but I don’t think I can wait that long to check it out. Can’t wait to read it!! Congratulations!

  29. It’s great, Marisa; I like the size, the paper, the design, the stories . . . and the recipes. It’s been a pleasure to look through this evening.

  30. I had preordered your book back in March. I got an email from Amazon earlier this week to say it was shipping early. Yeah! It was on the porch yesterday when I got home from work. I only had time to flip through a few pages before my regularly scheduled life settled in, but I have plans to get up close and personal with it tonight. From what little I saw of it, it is beautiful and I can’t wait to dive in! Congratulations!

  31. Wow! I just heard about this book through my Simple Bites subscription. I checked it out on Amazon and the book looks amazing. I have a friend who used to can the most wonderful pickles. She stopped because it was so much work. I have always wanted to tackle canning myself (to try and recreate those pickles!) but it seemed so intimidating and labor intensive. Your small batch approach looks like something I could definitely handle and your book looks like just what I need to get started!

  32. I received my copy yesterday and it is a BEAUTIFUL book! I love the lead in sections and I am so excited to start canning using your recipes. And the paper quality and layout is gorgeous. Great job! πŸ™‚

  33. Hi Marissa. Received my book yesterday. It’s everything I expected and more. I love your blog and your book reads just like it. Friendly, fun and informative. Like sitting down with a dear friend. A very creative friend. My daughter is just starting to explore the preserving world and I turned her onto your blog. She’s a very big fan already. She plans on making your Lemon Curd as her first adventure. I bought her a copy of your book also and I look forward to spending time with her dreaming over your recipes, then sharing samples with each other. Thank you for a great book.

  34. Just got the email that mine has shipped! I’m very excited to have it in my kitchen for this year’s canning season! Best of luck πŸ™‚

  35. I ordered mine yesterday along with the silicon trivet you use in your canning pot. I’m looking forward to using both of them.

  36. My book arrived yesterday, I’m so excited! I want to make every recipe I’ve read, lots of new wonderful ideas. The friends and family on my holiday gift list will have you to thank for scrumptious Gifts In Jars! Thanks!

  37. HI Marisa,

    congratulations!!!
I follow your blog regularly and its one of the few about canning, that are not so boring….. πŸ˜‰ I love preserving myself and sometimes you just speak my own thougts out loud!
IΒ΄d love to order your book, too. But do you have any idea, when it will be available in germany?
Have a proud and wonderful weekend,
    B.

  38. Crazy that the e-book version isn’t available until the 22nd, but you can get the hardcover version now. πŸ™ I’m bummed I have to wait! I did get to see a friend’s copy yesterday, and I can’t wait to get my own.

  39. I just got my copy and let me just say, it is a beautiful book! Sturdy cover, thick paper, pretty patterns on each page, and great stories that accompany each recipe. Thanks for such a lovely and informative book! Love it!

  40. Woooohoo! I got it today and can’t wait to start jamming. I even have new vanilla beans to use.

Great book and I don’t know where to start first. You did GREAT job on it.

  41. Love it, Love it, LOVE IT!! I got your book and have already created the rhubarb vanilla jam recipe (just in time to gift to my mom for Mother’s Day!). MMMmmmm…can’t wait to try more recipes! Thank you for such an excellent book–well done!
