One of the things that started my preoccupation with canning jars, lo those many years ago, was their versatility. You could store just about anything in them, they could be a drinking glass or an inexpensive travel mug, and they allowed you to forgo specialty kitchenware for a more one-size-fits-all alternative.
However, back in those early days, even I was forced to admit that there were some things that a mason jar didn’t do well. Top of that list was pour. Sure, you could shake up a salad dressing in a pint jar and take it with you to a potluck, but when it came time to dispense that vinaigrette, you knew a mess was in store. Same went for batches of simple syrup or infused olive oil.
Enter the Mason Tap. There is nothing better when it comes to dispensing and drizzling from jar to plate, cup or bowl. I have one on a small jar of fancy olive oil and another on my meyer lemon infused vinegar. My mom uses one on her dish soap and my sister keeps one on her homemade vinaigrette. It’s also a great item for avid home cocktail makers, as it puts your infused spirits within easy reach.

I’m a simple girl. Homemade salad dressings.
I’d put it to use right away on a jar of elderberry syrup. There’s sickness at my house and i spill it every time I open the jar to get a teaspoonful.
i have just started making shrubs. i would infuse my mixes in these jars.
Salad dressing! I love shaking them up in a pint jar. Hate the mess all over my kitchen table.
I would be interested in trying one to drip water over sugar cubes into Absinthe.
Honey, salad dressing, dish soap, olive oil, half and half…I think I need more than a few of these!
Pomegranate Simple syrup To Make Champagne Cocktails with
For mojo sauce for the pork this Christmas Eve!
What a great idea and it can be used is so many different ways from cooking to cleaning ! Balsamic vinegar drizzled over some flat bread pizza…..this Mason Jar Tap kit would be perfect !
Infused Oils, water and vodka. Love these!
Homemade vanilla!
Perfect for our homemade maple syrup.
i’m going to try making bacon infused bourbon for cocktails
I’d love to use them for infused olive oil and/or vinegars.
I could use them to pour that left over condensed milk I always seem to have after making pies… use it in my coffee!
Oil for cooking next to the stove, salad dressing, maple syrup, etc. etc. etc.
My mind is so full of ideas, I would try one of each mentioned in their book, that I WILL buy myself for Christmas.
Small one would be great for homemade bitters (love a dash of bitters in my sparkling water!) The larger ones would be ideal for adding a dash of elderberry shrub to smoothies (cold season y’all!) and salad dressings.
Salad Dressing!
Strawberry syrup from the first Food in Jars book… Have never gotten enough of that stuff! 🙂
If it would work for syrup, I’d love something for strawberry syrup that my family currently just lets drip down the sides onto the fridge shelf. Aarrggh.
I would use them for storage of dry foods and pickled foods
wow this is so marvelous! So many ideas, so many uses. I most definitely use this for homemade vinegar and oil and my homemade low carb coffee creamer (help me measure it more accurately!
Homemade salad dressing! I hate mixing up a party sized batch and there is no clean way to get it out!
I would use this to add variety to the lunches I pack every day
Hibiscus syrup. Yup, you and the Mouse converted me
Would definitely use this to mix a few cocktails over the holidays!
Wow! This is the product I have been waiting for! I would send my husband to lunch with his salad dressing and not worry about it getting messy 🙂
I’d love it for syrups!
Ooohhh….salad dressing!
Salad dressing, all the time
oh my. lemon vinagerette, infused oils, salad dressings. the list is endless.
That looks so effecient!! I would love to use that for my Carolina BBQ sauce I make and could put that on a buffet line. The sauce is runny enough that it would come out perfectly!
I would use it for simple syrup, cocktails, olive oil and anything else that needs to be easily poured
Flavored simple syrup.
Strawberry syrup, so my grandson can pour in on his pancakes without the awful mess he usually makes!
Salad dressing, of course. Simple syrup, for cocktails. Drizzling sauce over ice cream… yum!
chocolate sauce, salad dressing
I have been blending olive oil into leftover pickle brine for quick vinaigrettesand this would make pouring so much easier and neater. I’m sure i would have to hide it from my husband in case of migration from kitchen to bar.
I’d probably use it for salad dressing. Or olive oil. Or homemade vanilla.
Ooh! Love this! I have some boiled cider in the fridge at the moment that this would be perfect for!
This would make taking homemade salad dressings to potluck a breeze. Thanks for the great giveaway!
Salad dressing, yes!
I will give it to my husband who makes fantastic shrubs — and stores them in my canning jars!
hmmmmm, I’m thinking a lovely cranberry infused vinegar…
Definitely I’d use it for shrubs, I recently started making my own shrubs and I adore them especially my ginger bug shrub.
Syrups and cocktails for sure.
Salad dressing!
Homemade tabasco sauce
Well, I think it would be more experimentation with chile infused spirits. That strawberry syrup sounds tempting though!
Ooo the jar of simple syrup I keep in the fridge is the first thing that comes to mind!
Simple vanilla infused syrup for my hot tea!!!!
I’m a homemade salad dressing person all the way. This would be great for that (and so I didn’t get that dreaded oil circle on my refrigerator shelf that I inevitably put something else on).
I’m a big fan of using mason jars for storing cocktail ingredients — shrubs, simple syrup, and infused spirits — as well as premixing cocktails to chill and serve later. Like you said, not always the easiest to pour from though…
very cool! I suppose mine would get used most for salad dressing.
We boil maple syrup every spring, but never have a great container to put it in to serve it (old commercial maple jugs is about the best we have). This would be awesome… Perfect for my father-in-law who is in charge of the operation!
So cool. Would be great for root beer and ginger beer syrups.
Maple syrup at this house, too! Or olive oil, or balsamic, or homemade vanilla, or… 😉 very excited that this is open to Canadian readers.
I’d love to try infusing simple syrup for cocktails!
This would be amazing for homemade dressing! I feel like I end up wasting a lot. Same for homemade vanilla!
I think it’d be nice for a bread dip. Dressing would be great too.
