Giveaway: New Products from EcoJarz

EcoJarz giveaway products

One of the continuing joys of running this site is having a professional mandate to stay on top of the many different products people are making to work with mason jars. Back when I started writing, you could get screens for seed sprouting in canning jars, but that was about it. Now we live in a time when you can turn jars into travel mugs, cocktail shakers, spice jars, and even nut choppers.

EcoJarz is one company that have been consistently innovating in the area of mason jar attachments and recently they sent me three of their new products to try out.

blendit

The first item is a sturdy coiled spring called a Blendit. It’s designed to be popped into a mason jar when you want to shake something up. It’s a useful tool for emulsifying salad dressings or mixing protein powder into liquid.

ecojarz dose

Next up is the EcoJarz Dose. It’s a pour over coffee brewer that attaches snugly to a wide mouth mason. It comes with stainless steel filter, a stamper, a stainless steel flat lid, and a reusable cloth filter. The whole thing packs down to fit into a wide mouth pint jar, so it can go on the road with you.

jarhugger holster

Last up is the JarHugger Holster. It’s a demin cozy (complete with pocket) that helps pad your jars and allows you to take them on the go. It comes with EcoJarz standard drink top converter as well.

The nice folks at EcoJarz have offered up five sets of the products described up above for this week’s giveaway. Here’s how to enter.

  1. Leave a comment on this post and tell me what your dream mason jar add-on product would be. Does it already exist? Or do you long to invent something new?
  2. Comments will close at 11:59 pm east coast time on Saturday, October 4, 2014. The winner will be chosen at random and will be posted to the blog by the end of the day on Sunday, October 5, 2014.
  3. Giveaway is open to US residents.
  4. One comment per person, please. Entries must be left on the blog, I cannot accept submissions via email.

Disclosure: EcoJarz sent me the items you see above for testing and photography purposes. They are also providing the prizes for the giveaway. No additional compensation was provided.

  • I like the Blendit but then, I also think the Dose coffee pour-over attachment is also very cool. And the great thing is that you must use a wide mouth jar – take all three and you have almost everything you need for a picnic or road trip.

  • I love all the jar accessories! I would use them all πŸ™‚

One thing I’d love to see invented is safe-from-breakage, affordable jar STORAGE. Even if it was heavy weight cardboard with dividers, like jars come in, but stronger and with lids (like paper boxes have lids).

  • OMG, I so want that blender thing! I’ve been trying to get away from plastic, and there are no non plastic blender jars

  • I’m a die-hard Cuppow user, but that doesn’t mean I’m not open to new things! I would love for a lid like the Cuppow one but that has a little silicone plug attached to the lid to close the hole during travel.

In fact, I think I’m going to email them with this groundbreaking idea right now! You heard it here first, folks!

  • I love the jarhugger! What a unique idea!! The blender is pretty awesome too. I’m not much for coffee but the other two are great!

  • turning it into a travel mug – and then having a cover for it sounds perfect. I will also be looking up the nut chopper and spice grinding options as those would be really handy. Have tons of the jars around the house that I can use!

  • I think that pour over coffee brewer is totally cool. What a great idea! I love it that mason jars are such an in thing right now. I have been a jammer and have canned since I was 12 yrs old. I won’t reveal my age but, that was a long time ago. To see the younger generation take canning to a new height is simply great.

  • Haha! What about musical instrument attachments for the kiddos (car rides?)? A shaker (ok maybe a kid shaking a mason jar around in close quarters isn’t the brightest idea…), a string board to fit across the top, a little drum head. I know mason jars aren’t the most acoustical containers on the planet, but I think kids would love it, and in the car that’s not a bad thing! πŸ™‚

    1. Oh! and I know I don’t get a second entry, but I would LOVE to see hard, curved plastic (or whatever) strips that can suction to the side of the jar and be easily removed for washing to write dates and contents for storing things in the fridge!

  • I love Dianne’s proposed permanent erasable label. I also want to try the blender with heavy cream and see if it would make butter!

  • do we need to be based in reality? then an infinitely re-usable, indisputably non-toxic lid for canning would be my vote, and a strainer lid would also be kind of great. Outside of reality, some dingdobbler on the jar that tells you “this one’s gonna explode in the canner!” would be nice, wouldn’t it?

  • The Dose coffee attachment is AMAZING–the only thing I might like just a little but more would be a French press attachment for a straight sided jar. I doubt it would be possible, but I’m dreaming!

I have the “flower frog” screens for mine and people are always impressed that I can arrange my flowers so nicely in a canning jar. Shhhhhh! πŸ™‚

  • The blender bobble is genius! What I’d like to see is that associated with a flip top stainless steel pouring top for less messy pouring. It wouldn’t necessarily have to be a lip top I guess but that would allow you to travel with it. You could mix up batters in the jar and then use the pouring top to transfer it to the cooking surface with less mess.

  • Now about a strainer kid. Or even one with a little handle so you could sieve small berries? Or a nut grinder — I used to have such a thing that screwed onto a small jar.

    Lisa

  • I love the coffee brewer. It also would be great for traveling. Add the other 2 items and a drinking lid and you would have your very own travel pack!

  • I would love a pouring lid for regular and wide mouth jars. No plastic please. And if it can be closed so that it is air tight for storing all the better.

  • Wow, that coffee attachment looks amazing. I would also love to see (and am sure this probably already exists somewhere) a stick blender attachment for mixing small quantities of smoothies, soups, etc.

  • I’d like one of those mason jar cocktail shakers. I have a very small home bar (primarily a beer person) and already make my cocktails in mason jars since they’re what I have on hand. So, it’s a natural extension. But that coffee thing! I might need to get that for my work travels.

  • I would like to see a thermal wrap to help keep hot things hot and/or cold things cold. One thing I’ve made for our jars is a padded cozy. It protects the jar when traveling but it also protects the hands when pulling a hot jar out of the microwave.

  • There are so many neat products made with mason jars, it’s hard to fathom something new! These are great. My favorite mason jar adaption has been the cuppow lid, I think. All that my kids use now!

  • I love the denim holder! I use Mason Jars all the time to store leftovers in the refrigerator. They work great and make it easy to see what I have in the refrigerator. I also make my morning oatmeal the night before (oatmeal, sugar, and coconut milk) in a wide mouth jar — it’s ready to add blueberries to it in the morning.

  • I would love to see them do a silicone sleeve or some other material that would make the jars less slippery or protect from hot liquids.

  • My favorite canning jar product is a new thing from a Kickstarter campaign. They are only sending out their first ones in November of this year. It’s a fermenting made simple thing that fits on a canning jar. It says it guarantees your ferment will work right. I want one!!

  • I think the pour over coffee brewer looks amazing ! Jars are such fun to work with and one never knows what the next best thing will be !

  • It’s great to see so many canning related items used in new ways. Especially love the Dose pour over coffee brewer. That would be in my take everywhere travel bag. I’ll stick to making the food and preserving πŸ˜‰

  • I love the blender! I also want the pour spout that is like the Morton salt can that I saw. I have no original idea’s of my own, but I really like the new products out there.

  • The pour-over coffee attachment looks amazing! I’ve been looking for a good way to do just one cup when 2pm hits!

  • i just want some of this drinkable lids…spill proof for kids…how bout a bottle nipple? and love the unbreakable glass idea!

  • I have been searching for a nut grinder like the one my mom used to have. But that coffee attachment might just distract me for awhile.

  • I love my ball brand lids, wish they were more sippy cup like with a silicone cozy to use with the kids. I hate plastic sippy cups!

  • I would like to see a strainer lid and I need tho check out some of the other attachments you mentioned

  • Anything that wraps around to make the glass manageable with hot liquids inside (tea, usually) is my favorite thing. πŸ™‚

  • I would just like one-piece lids to use for the things that go straight into the fridge, with dry-erase marker labels on them. That would be so convenient!

  • Awesome! I’d love the blender ball paired with a pour spout of some sort. Although the coffee filter looks pretty great, too!

  • I LOVE the denim cozy!!! I really like the idea. I am an artist. At the festivals I do I take my own food. I would fill this with my food and slip the fork/spoon in the pocket. Much easier than a cooler. Plus I love glass instead of plastic. When I clean them – I know they are clean! Not like plastic, I always wonder just how clean it is. I can sling this over my shoulder no muss no fuss. I like the way y’all think!

  • I would echo the strainer idea, but also a way to add handles when you have hot liquids that make it hard to grab the jar when hot. I envision something similar to the canning grabbers, but one you could lock on the jar.

  • That denim cozy is great. My dream jar accessory is storage lids that are air tight and (relatively) inexpensive.

  • I’d like a funnel that would help to make refilling jars with bulk foods easier. Maybe this already exists, and I should go look for it!

  • That pour-over coffee filter is such a great idea! Everyone needs to take coffee with them at all times, right? I might even buy a single wide-mouth jar so I could use it. (All my canning jars are regular for ease of ring & lid storage & acquisition.) I don’t know that I can come up with a better dream product than this! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

  • Colored rings that are still safe for canning would be neat, to color code the jars without even needing to label them. πŸ™‚

  • What cute ideas! I love them all but would love something for hot tea….does the coffee doohicky work for that? Thanks for loving Mason jars too!

  • My favorite attachment in the blender blade from my blender, screws right onto the jar and can be used to make smoothies!!

  • I would love something that is one piece just for dry storage, I reuse used lids to store pasta, etc so something one piece would be awesome πŸ™‚ Thanks!!

  • I would love a strainer top. I am infatuated with mason jars. I use them for anything and everything. Great for storage.

  • Some type of glass the would fit into the top of wide mouth mason jars to hold fermented foods down below liquid level.

  • I would love a hot tea basket lid to steep loose-leaf teas. I also second the foaming soap dispenser idea.

  • I would like to see a lid with a pourer on it like the ones the salt comes in at the grocery store. I have actually cut one off the salt container and used it on my mason jar.

  • I would love a Spice shaker lids with solid cap over it that has the spice names molded into the cap.

  • I was sold when they started making drinking lids for mason jars lol. But the coffee attachment looks fantastic!

  • OMG – Must. Have. Coffee brewing thing. Now, if they could invent a capsule for the creamer that would fit inside the the jar …..

  • The pour-over coffee maker looks rad, but what I really need is something to keep the lids and rings together in the dishwasher! Somehow, they’re like socks-always separated from their mate.

  • I’m not sure if the coffee filter just sits on top or if it would work for cold-brew. I would like a cold-brew attachment that fits inside the jar. it would be good for steeping tea as well i would think.

  • The coffee attachment sounds intriguing as I have something similar that makes the best coffee in the world! But I have to say my cherry pitter that attaches to a small jar is my all-time favorite. So easy to use and easy to clean!

  • I would love love love the coffee brewer (right now!). I also wish there was a better way to label and reuse the jar lids. I have a mountain of rings and flat pieces that can’t be used again and I hold on to them hoping I’ll come up with an inventive way to use them.

  • Wow those. Are cool, love the blendit tool.

    I’d love to see
    A koozie
Lids to make the jars salt & pepper shakers

  • I love the cuppow bento cups, but would love one that’s slightly smaller to house salad dressing inside the jar and off my salad.

  • As an art quilter, I plan to make some insulated cozies….this would keep the beverage cold or hot and prevent sweating.

  • I love the pour over, especially, since it packs into itself. I am still on a quest a way to easily convert a jar into a travel cup for hot beverages. I can’t find a water tight, one piece lid that is BPA free. Preferably with a hole to drink out of that seals as to not have to take off the lid to drink.
