Giveaway: Hamilton Beach Stack & Snap 10 Cup Food Processor

Hamilton Beach Stack & Snap Food Processor

One of the things I’ve learned in my years of canning is that once the produce starts coming on in great waves, it’s helpful to have a small appliance or two in your kitchen arsenal to help break fruits and vegetables down into preservable shapes and sizes. I often use my blender to help soften fruit for jam making (pulse, don’t puree) and often use the grater blade for my food processor to shred all manner of veg for batches of relish or salsa.

Recently, the nice folks at Hamilton Beach asked if I’d be interested in trying out their new Stack & Snap 10 Cup Food Processor. Since I’m always curious about new appliances (particularly ones that can help out during canning season), I said yes. I’ve had this guy in my kitchen for a couple of months now and there are a bunch of things I really like about it.

chopping blade

First off, I really like its general concept. Instead of having to turn and lock the pieces into alignment, the components of this machine simply stack together. Once you’re ready to process, two little pieces click and hold the lid in place. When I first used the machine, I found it a little disconcerting that the bowl doesn’t lock onto the base, but it has proven to be plenty sturdy, so it doesn’t worry me at all.

I also really appreciate the fact that both the chopping blade and the slicing/grating disc fit into the bowl for storage (I’ve never found a good method for storing the accessory discs for my other food processor).

grate and slice blade

It’s also a seriously powerful in the shredding and slicing department. I have used it to grate many pounds of carrots, cabbage, potatoes, fennel, and very old, hard Parmesan cheese. It’s been a champ with them all. I also appreciate how wide the feed tube is. Makes it really easy to get large root vegetables in there.

The chopping blade is also a workhorse, though I was disappointed to find that it sits up a little too high to be truly useful for moderately sized batches of pastry dough and pie crust. Still, it makes quick work of larger batches of dough and things like these sunflower seed and cheddar crackers.

My one complaint about this machine has to do with the length of the cord. It’s too darn short! Truly though, I find this to be the case with most modern appliances. Because my kitchen is 47 years old (and has never been remodeled), I have just a couple of outlets placed at either end of the room. I either end up positioning the processor at an awkward angle and stretching the cord to its full length or getting an extension cord. If you have a space with more generously positioned electrical outlets, this shouldn’t be an issue for you.

Overall, I’m quite impressed with this food processor. I’ve long used a first generation Cuisinart (my aunt Flora bought it sometime in the mid-seventies) for my processing needs and I was pleased to see that this inexpensive unit could do much of what I ask of my vintage machine.

Finally, the giveaway. Hamilton Beach has generously given me eight of these Stack & Snap 10 Cup Food Processors to give away to my readers. Here’s how to enter.

  1. Oooh, yes please! My favorite currently is my blender (which needs to be replaced), because it provides me with yummy smoothies. I’m starting to think I need to invest in an immersion blender though after reading some of these comments.

  2. It’s hard to pick one, but as banal as it sounds I think I have to pick the toaster oven. It’s great to be able to cook or bake small amounts (in a household of two) without the energy use of heating up the oven. Not very glamorous, but oh well!

  3. Not an appliance, but I just got a wooden citrus reamer, and I don’t know how I lived without one before. I love it so much.

Small appliances… my immersion blender, probably.

  4. Besides my Nana’s vintage potato ricer & wooden chopping bowl with red handled
blade, my microwave’s used on a daily basis & a crock-pot. This looks awesome!
Thank you for the giveaway, I’d LOVE to win one of these. I downsized 5 years ago when my youngest moved out & gave her my full sized blender & food processor as my kitchen storage & counter space was greatly downsized. Perfect for the garden goodies!
    Thank you again.

  5. Definitely my immersion blender. It was a bit of a sneaker favorite, originally bought for making baby food to realize that it can do so much more…and never actually made any baby food.

  6. Now is my rice cooker, I learned I can make Quinoa in. Love it. Next would be my bunn coffee grinder. Nothing like fresh ground coffee.

  7. I was just thinking today as I whipped out my immersion blender on some strawberry jam how much I love that thing. (I do not own a food processor and would love one!)

  8. Wow that looks great! I have been jimmy riggin my current food processor for years now. The place where the bowl is supposed to lock in and cause the machine to operate broke and i have to stick a butter knife in there to get it going. The cheese grater broke many moons ago, but I do that by hand or have one of my girls do it for me, while i’m cooking. haha. I tried out one from jcpenny, but ended up taking it back cause i couldnt get the bowl off easily. Anyway, i love my little wooden reamer, ahaaha, it is very reliable, and no jimmy riggin! Could really really use a food processor! hahaha, thanks ;]

  9. I love my Kitchen Aid mixer , but as far as smaller appliances go, I find endless uses for my immersion blender and its attachments.

  10. My favorite kitchen appliance would be my Nuwave oven. I love how it cooks things so fast and makes things crunchy like a microwave can’t. I also don’t have to heat up a huge oven in the summer!

  11. Both my Cusinart Food Processor and my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer are tied for the favorite. Both have served me well for many years…

  12. I love my Blendtec blended. Next is my KitchenAid stand mixer. Mandolin is wonderful when I need a huge bunch of stuff sliced very thin….but be careful to keep your fingers out of the way!!

  13. In my tiny kitchen- where it’s almost unbearable to use the gas oven no matter what time of year- my mini convection/toaster oven is key.

  14. My favorite tool? Electric, hands down, my immersion blender. Best wedding present ever!!! Non-electric, silicon spatulas!!

I’m also still using a cuisinart from the 80s. That says something about staying power, but I’m afraid it will die someday. I won it in a contest, so it seems like this is a fair way to replace it!

  15. The immersion blender was my favorite until I sliced my finger open on it. I think I need an appliance with a more contained blade!

  16. I love my coffee bean grinder that I found at a deep discount price at a big box retailer.

  17. I will always have a soft spot for my Kitchen Aid stand mixer, which I love, but for changing the way I operate in the kitchen – definitely the food processor! Definitely agree about the short cords! My very old, rarely renovated rental apartment here in Philly has a kitchen the size of a postage stamp and only one outlet – high up on the wall for the fridge, so I can’t use it for anything else. All my blending, processing, mixing is done on the living room floor. Thankfully I don’t have any roommates so no one has to trip over the bevy of small appliances!

  18. I use my electric butter churn more often than anything else, with the possible exception of the toaster…OK, I do make coffee everyday, so the coffeepot would have to be my favorite LOL.

  19. My fav is the mini food processor ! when you want to grind/ chop up or make a small batch of peanut sauce it is the right size with out the hassle of hauling the big machine out & the cord is very long as well as a snap to clean up!

  20. I currently don’t have a food processor, and don’t have any fancy kitchen appliance, so I guess I should say my favorite is my knife haha. That is the one kitchen tool that I use everyday. I have been wanting a nice food processor for a very long time, so this is an awesome giveaway!
Thank you so much for doing this giveaway! You are so generous! 🙂

  21. My favorite appliance is a little one-serving blender I picked up at Goodwill a few months ago for $4. The blender jar turns into a travel mug with a lid, and I use it every morning to make a smoothie. I love not having to wash dismantle and wash the big blender every day!

  22. I love my blendtec blender. Just purchased a green star twin gear juicer—trying to eat healthier and both of these appliances make that so much easier. Would love a new food processor! My is old and needs to move on to greener pastures!

  23. June happens to be pesto month in our home. So I have to admit that I use my mini (4 cup) food processor nearly every day. My husband and I have leased a 1/2acre urban farm this year, and each night we are experimenting: kale pesto, arugula pesto, broccoli rabe pesto.. That HB processor looks like a dream!

  24. Actually, my [very clean] hands are the best tool, but I do not have a good processor and certainly would LOVE to use the Hamilton Beach Stack & Snap for all my canning needs!

  25. My immersion blender is my favorite kitchen tool. I use it to make the kids yogurt and fruit shakes almost daily.

  26. I love all my kitchen appliances, but my favorite is the Kitchen Aid stand mixer. It was an extravagance when I got it 20 years ago, but I’ve never regretted it. Would love to replace the clunky Cuisinart food processor I got for a wedding present in ’84 with one of these slick new ones.

  27. Favorite small appliance? Well, that would have to be my Vitamix blender! My mom gave it to me and it makes amazing smoothies. Loveeee love love your blog!

  28. I love my kitchen aid stand mixer! It is the workhorse of my kitchen, has great attachments, and lasts forever. My grandmother has had hers for 50 years!!

  29. my spice grinder!
we like to buy whole spices and grind them ourselves in a little whirling blade coffee grinder (used only for spices) things just taste so much better with freshly ground spices.

  30. I have a tiny, galley-style kitchen. The only appliance that lives permanently on my (miniscule) counters is my coffee maker, which grinds beans right before brewing.

    I need my coffee.

  31. It’s a tie between the immersion blender and panini maker. Both elevate your food preparation to an all new level.

  32. My favorite kitchen appliance is my stovetop espresso maker…simple, classic, and makes the best coffee!

  33. My grandmother’s Kitchen Aid is still going strong after 35 years. I can’t believe how much I use it and it has lasted for so long. I think of Nana every time I start it up.

  34. Nut sure these are technically gadget’s but I would have to say my French Press for coffee, and my pressure canner.

  35. My pepper mill, Use it every day for supper, sometimes for breakfast as well……my food processor does see heavy use.

  36. Our Solis coffee maker is my everyday fave, but the immersion blender is a must have for making jam! I don’t care for clumps of fruit in my jam so the immersion blender makes it easy to break them down just enough.

  37. It’s a tough call~but my fave is my crockpot! I use it year round to help prepare the meals for the 8 of us. I would love to have one of these nifty little machines to help me with all the prep work I have. I’m kinda sick of slicing and chopping!

  38. Probably our very small (4cup), very simple coffee maker, just because I love waking up and smelling coffee!

  39. Does a Keurig count? Cause that’s probably the one I use the most lately. Dehydrator is also nice, but I don’t use it all that often. My girlfriend would probably say the Kitchen-Aid stand mixer, though.

  40. Hands down my kitchen Aid, my husband stretched our budget to the max 10 years ago and bought it for my birthday, best gift ever – that baby has been used to make everything, it’s now seeing me though making gluten free everything due to a recent health diagnoses.

  41. For me, it would have to be the immersion blender. I love making soups, so purees are quick, easy, and, most importantly, easy to clean up(!) when I use my immersion blender.

  42. Although not an appliance, I love my citrus zester. Before I ever cut and juice any citrus fruit, I zest all the peel (after washing it) and freeze it in little ziplock bags. i just joined a CSA and have my largest vegetable garden ever, so this food processor would be great for all the incoming produce. Thanks for your great blog!

  43. My kitchen aid stand-up mixer is by far my favorite small appliance! For someone who loves to bake, this is a godsend! Thanks to hubby for such an awesome birthday gift!

  44. It doesn’t get used as much as it should but my Kitchen Aid Ice Cream Maker is by far the best “fun” item I bought for my house. I’m much more of a sorbet eater and during the summer time its a great way to make fun adult beverages!

  45. I’m a canning/preserving newbie. I am seeking the best but frugal way to do this process. I’m seeking all the advice and wisdom via Internet, this amazing blog, books, etc. I have not purchased a small kitchen appliance for this process, yet. I do own a few Hamilton Beach products. I really like their products and the prices. I hope to win this lovely, and start my canning/preserving journey!!! Thank you for this giveaway.

  46. Getting a hand-held immersion blender changed everything – extended the potentials considerably! (The coffee grinder reserved strictly for spices is a pretty nice little favorite too.)

  47. My tiny-sized coffee maker is great for saving counter space, saving water, saving coffee, and making just enough that I’ll drink it all without leaving some over to get stale and end up watering the plants with it.

  48. Not sure this counts but oh boy do I love my french press. It makes the perfect amount of coffee for my partner and I to each have a mug, which I find particularly charming.

  49. I’ve found that my coffee grinder is a little powerhouse, perfect for my morning cup plus grinding rice, grains, and spices. I would rescue it in a housefire.

  50. My hand held food processor. I keep it in the drawer next to the sink. I use it to make mashed cauliflower, potatoes and even to make in the cup milk shakes for the kids. I love that thing. <3

  51. By far the most used is the coffee maker! There are only two of us and we make 12 cups every morning. We are addicted! But the good news is once I get my coffee in me, I can cook up some fun meals! We bought one that is insulated so it stays hotter. We also wanted one that had a timer so we could have it ready for us when we get up!

  52. It would be very hard to choose between my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer or my Cuisinart Food Processor! My son gave me both of them as gifts (at different times) and I always say that they are the two best gifts I have ever received! I use both of them ALL THE TIME -and don’t think I could live without either!

  53. My current favorite small kitchen appliance is my immersion blender, but this food processor would definitely be my favorite if I had one!

  54. Love my 4 cup Cuisinart. It’s great for one batch of pesto and I know it’s summer when I break it out to use!

  55. I love my Krups coffee grinder which I actually don’t use for coffee. I grind spices in it! And best yet – I found it at a thrift shop for $5!!!!

  56. The food processor is my favorite small appliance, specifically, the shredder attachment. It’s the only reason slaw or carrot cake gets made in my kitchen!

  57. My favorite is an electric coffee grinder. No coffee is allowed in it though, because I use it for everything from grinding dried herbs from my garden to making oat flour from steel cut oats and flaxmeal from flax seeds. It rocks!

  58. The blender is the most loved and used appliance in my kitchen. I am not a milkshake/smoothy girl. This work horse helps me wip up salad dressings, make almond milk, soups, sauces, and create amazing dips. If there were a fire I would seriously run out of the house with my blender in arms. Thanks for the giveaway. Slicing and chopping- I am ready to deligate.

  59. I love my immersion blender. I originally got it to make baby food and now I use it all the time:) This food processor looks awesome. Looks Like it can really cut processing time down and that is awesome for canning.

  60. I looooooooove my professional grade stand mixer. The bowl is hand wash, but otherwise it’s the easiest appliance I’ve ever owned!

  61. I love my immersion blender to make creamy soups in the winter. I would love a food processor to make my son baby food.

  62. I love my immersion blender! It came with a whisk and a mini food processor attachment, so I use it for whipped cream, smoothies, soups, and any small job that comes my way.

  63. I am very fond of my tiny food processor- it was twenty bucks five years ago and have pulverized so much delicious happiness I can’t remember everything I have enjoyed from it, it would be great to have access to a bigger one!

  64. How can I choose only one? Immersion blender, sure, but mandoline, peeler, and paring knife. Impossible to have just one.

  65. My parents gave me a Mr. Coffee espresso maker when I was still in college, and it saved me from horrible dining center coffee for all of senior year. I don’t think I could have written my thesis without the reassuring constant presence of fresh lattes whenever I wanted them, even though I lived in a tiny shoebox of a dorm room.

  66. My most favorite kitchen appliance is my Blendtec blender hands down. That thing can blend ANYTHING and I love hearing my husband hum the theme song to “Will it Blend” every time he plugs it in to use!
Thank you for the opportunity at the food processor! I would kill to kick my sad little 3 cup processor to the side!

  67. My fave small appliance is def a coffeemaker–couldn’t survive without it. I have been meaning to get a nice food processor for a while. I have small one that doesn’t have many bells and whistles, and everytime I use it, I think about buying a new one. Would love to win this!
