Giveaway: Aladdin Original Insulated Mason Tumbler

Aladdin Original Insulated Mason Tumbler

Most of the time, this blog is dedicated to recipes, tutorials, and giveaways that feature items that help you cook, preserve, and keep your kitchen eco-system running smoothly. I focus on local foods, clean cookware, and useful things made from glass, metal, fabric, and wood.

However, once in a great while, something comes along that so thoroughly tickles my fancy that I decide it’s worth writing about, even if it happens to be made of plastic. This new insulated tumbler from Aladdin, made to look like a vintage mason jar, is just such an item.

Please disregard the small dent in the lid. It’s the result of user error and is a good reminder that it’s never wise to put small, crushable things underneath heavy, cast iron cookware during post-dinner clean-up.

I confess, I was totally taken by this tumbler from the very first moment I saw it and immediately contacted Aladdin, to see if they might want to do a giveaway. They were game and sent over four, one for me to use and live with, and three for me to share with my readers.

Having used this BPA-free tumbler for more than a month now, I’m still really enjoying it and the sheer novelty of having a faux jar. I often use it for iced tea and cold glasses of water and do appreciate the insulation (it keeps drinks colder and means that I don’t have to be vigilant about coaster usage).

I realize that this tumbler might not be for all my readers. I know that lots of you are working hard to remove every speck of plastic from your homes and so this item just doesn’t fit into your life. I respect and honor your choices, just as I hope you all will honor the fact that I get some joy from this tumbler and so simply wanted to share it.

If you find yourself equally enchanted by this tumbler and end up getting one yourself (giveaway or not), the nice folks at Aladdin would love to see your pictures of it in action! You can either share them on Pinterest or Facebook.

Now, to the giveaway! I have three of these tumblers to give away (thus, there will be three winners). Here’s how to enter:

  1. Leave a comment on this post. I’m on vacation this week, so please share your very favorite vacation activity (for me, it’s sleeping late and exploring new cities).
  2. Comments will close at 11:59 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Winner will be chosen at random and will be posted to the blog on Sunday.
  3. Giveaway open to all!
  4. One comment per person, please. Entries must be left via the comment form on the blog at the bottom of this post.
Disclosure: Aladdin provided four tumblers, one for my use and three for giveaway, at no cost to me. No money changed hands and all opinions expressed in this blog post are entirely mine.

Sharing is caring!

  • Sleeping in (maybe? I’ve got 2 small children – this is just a fantasy!!) and exploring local foods.

  • I teach school and have young children. My favorite thing about vacation is being with my children!

  • Visiting beautiful places, catching up on reading, and eating good food are my vacation plans this year 🙂

  • My favorite thin to do on vacation would be to rent a motor home and drive somewhere. I haven’t been on a real vacation in maybe 20 years so I’m not sure what I would do.

  • My wanderlust has kicked in! My favorite vacationing activity is to eat. Sit at a restuarant and eat food prepared by someone else. Doesn’t seem like much to some but to someone who schedules menus each week and cooks real food each night for my family, it’s a real treat to have someone else cook for you.

  • I think my favorite vacation activity is exploring junk/antique/resale shops along our travel route.

  • my favorite part of vacation is allowing myself red wine and chocolate chips cookies to serve as a meal (lunch!) we lake in michigan every year around the time of our anniversary and having that time to reconnect with one another is always great.

  • Favorite vacation thing to do… sleep in and then lay on a beach, preferably with restaurant to beach chair service, jump in ocean rinse repeat…

  • I think I remember what a vacation is………Trying to sleep in (although it never actually happens), enjoying a great meal and cold beverage outside somewhere and most definitely a great book with a corner chair filled with sunshine!

  • I always spend my vacations on my feet all day ducking into alleys to look at interesting buildings

  • Vacation? That’s something that I’d love to do at home. Home is where my heart is and where everything I love to do most. If I were on a vacation, I’d stay at home and sew, can, garden, and spring clean my house and yard. Since I work full-time and am almost never at home, these are the things I dream of doing.

  • My favorite vacation activity is slowing down. In today’s world everything is so fast paced and go, go, go. I enjoy slowing down and appreciating all that I have.

  • That is such a beautiful mug! On vacation, my family loves to visit the beach. We collect some sand, stones, and shells in a mason jar to bring home to remember where we have been.

  • Being at the beach – doing nothing but
smelling the salt air and listening
    To the crashing waves!

  • Favorite vacation time for me is visiting with my family in Maine or they coming to visit with me here in PA. While that doesn’t happen much more than once a year, my other favorite is taking a day here and a day there with my partner doing day trips and discovering or revisiting a special place.

  • Being somewhere quiet is the best vacation. I live in the city limits and there is always noise.

  • One of my favorite vacations happens twice a year – annual Knitting Camp! Yep a whole weekend of relaxing and knitting or whatever! I am assigned to Sunday breakfast which is always steel cut oats and scones with lots of jam/jelly choices!

  • My very favorite is long slow walks through the woods or just sitting and relaxing, maybe reading a little. Most of our vacations are in the mountains or at the beach.

  • My favorite part of traveling abroad is having a day with no plans, waking up late and sitting in a café with good food for HOURS just enjoying each other’s company and a good book. As for staying close to home and camping; hiking and then coming back to the site to cook a lavish dinner from the camp fire and camp stove with my best friend and our families…

  • We love to take weekend camping trips in our area. Nothing like wakeing to the birds & the sun. And then being able to explore the area. There are soo many state parks to visit!! And what a great drinking cup that would be to take along 😉

  • I am just finishing up nursing school this week, so I am looking forward to spending my break out on the lake with friends! My favorite vacations always involve the lake :0)

  • I love waking up early and takin a walk w/my coffee as the sun rises. Normally one of my daughters will join me and we always have a great conversation.

  • I have 2 very different ways to enjoy my vacations. The first are usually the very coveted 3 or 4 day weekends! I love to spend time with family and chillax’…cooking out, swimming, soaping, enjoying a few drinks. The second are the longer week or two real vacations. These are where we actually go somewhere. On these, I like to fit as much actual fun into every possible waking moment. Go…go…go!

  • I love exploring new cities and doing all of the “touristy” stuff, but I also love finding where the locals go to eat and trying out new places. And sleep. I love to sleep in hotels.

  • I love to just drive with no direction in mind and to stop whenever we see a place of interest and enjoy what ever we have found <3

  • I love seeing and learning about new places. I especially love historical areas and being out in nature. Cute cup!

  • We have yet to go on a REAL vacation that did not involve visiting with family or friends. Although I loved visiting, it would be nice to just be tourists or real vacationers at a real vacation. I vote for lazily sleeping in next to the beach 🙂

  • We are getting ready to vacay at the end of the month. I’m looking forward to lunch at my favorite restaurant, followed by browsing at the antique store next door.

  • My favorite vacation activities is eating! I love going to local restaurants and coffee shops. Yum yum. And fun cup!

  • My favorite vacation activity is doing nothing at all. No agenda!

My daughter would love this Alladin tumbler and I wouldn’t worry about glass breaking in her room!

  • i’m almost embarrassed to say, it’s eating. we love trying the local non-chains, street vendors, that sort of thing.

  • Vacation? What’s vacation? 🙂 Our cows have us “kidnapped”, so we don’t get away often…if at all…but I’d say that simply being able to create our own schedule, and not be bound by milking time, etc, is the favorite part of vacation for me!

  • I love checking out the local food scene when I’m traveling. Plus local arts.

  • This would be great for our beach trip! No sand in my drinks on the beach and I’d be stylish to boot!

  • What my vacation consist of is going to our place on Kentucky Lake and just enjoying the quiet, doing water color paintings, just sitting on the porch. It may only be for the day but very relaxing.
Would love the tumbler since we collect Aladdin Lamps, would be a great addition to the collection and great to take to the lake for the walks by the water.

  • My all-time favorite vacation activity is flea marketing. Hubby and I go on the 127 yard sale– 4 days of dawn to dusk rummaging… Yippee!

Love this travel mug. It would fit my personality so well and give my co-workers something to talk about. Actually, it would be a hit on vacation for the theme! 🙂

  • I use my vacation time to enjoy gardening and canning every summer. This would be a great tumbler to use while pulling weeds and enjoying the outdoors.

  • I love being in nature….that is a vacation within itself. Finding neat little places to eat where locals eat at. Thrift stores in cities and towns I have never been to is also a treat!

And I love the travel mug!

  • Exploring the outdoors, especially via kayak! Love getting away from everything and everyone and just enjoying the peace and quiet!

  • Greetings! I remember my grandmother and mother canning in blue jars…retro! My favorite vacation could include anything from camping to traveling to a large city!

  • It’s all about the food – street food usually, but a decent dinner at a local place is always in the mix.

  • I LOVE this tumbler! I have one of Aladdin’s regular insulated tumblers and it’s so nice. My favorite vacation activity is eating out and trying new restaurants! Or returning to old favorites if I’ve vacationed there before. Thanks for the chance to win!

  • I have to say your activities are my favs too, but in the warm weather, I would add going to the beach. And also shopping at those little totally unique to that town shops where you can find one of a kind interesting things. And trying new food, especially desserts!

  • If it’s staying at home, I love to sleep in and read and watch movies. If it’s going away, I also like to get lost in cities and exploring new places.

  • I LOVE this tumbler! I have one of Aladdin’s regular insulated tumblers and it’s so nice. My favorite vacation activity is eating out and trying new restaurants! Or returning to old favorites if it’s a place I’ve vacationed at before. Thanks for the chance to win!

  • I love a vacation with “things to do”…from horsebacking riding in a new place…to walking and shopping in a new city….or hiking in the country.

  • Cruising! I love the feeling of “getting away from it all”. Fresh air and ocean breezes. Non-stop food I don’t have to cook or clean up from. Free nightly entertainment. Seeing more than one place on a vacation. Can’t beat it.

  • Love the tumbler!

I would have to say, my favorite activity during vacation is probably taking a road trip or long walk around whichever city i’m in. Now that we take a stroller with us, it’s even nicer to walk and shop since I don’t have to carry anything with me!

  • Love the tumbler! I would say exploring the city/country is my favorite thing to do on vacation. I really try to not sleep so much, but I don’t sleep alot ever really!

  • I enjoy a good cabin vacation. Sitting out by a fire and smelling like campfire all night long. 🙂

  • going to camp (the lake, the cottage, whatever you want to call it).

there is nothing more relaxing than unplugging (no electricity or cell service) and winding down with a cold beer on the dock and some friends nearby.

  • WOW awesome giveaway…thanks…

i like to explore the back roads of new places! Hope you had a lovely vaca!

  • Sitting on a deck/porch/balcony in the morning slowly sipping my coffee while I stare at the beautiful lake/ocean/forest/mountains nearby and listen to the sounds of nature.

  • My favorite vacation activities are trying new restaurants and having time to read as much as I want. 🙂

  • When we were stationed in Wyoming (moved away this year), we took a bunch of toad trips during those 4+ years. My least favorite part about the trips were the drives… the drives were anywhere from a total of 6 hours to about 20 hours. My favorite spot to drive to was Yellowstone National Park. 8 hours was worth that beautiful scenery. But, when my husband took me to Zion National Park, it became a very close tie. We hiked through “The Narrows.” It is basically a creek running in between the skyscraper rock mountains of Zion. You hike miles and miles through this cool and refreshing creek in the hot sun. It was utterly relaxing. Towards the end of our hike, after stopping for some sandwiches on some rocks, we came up to some huge boulders in the middle of the creek. Too tall for me to climb over. The water was pooled in front of it, so we spent about a half hour there playing in the water and taking some romantic pictures (as you see on my profile picture). On all of our vacations, we do alot of hiking in alot of beautiful places. I hate the drive there and back, and I have to get up early (better picturew, not as hot, etc) but tge scenary and the silence is all worth it! (And we will always have pictures to remember!

  • I must have this! I must have this to give to a good friend who is dearly in need of some sort of beverage delivery system other than the plastic-not-reusable-but-he-reuses-it-anyway-lid-pops-off-not-big-enough cup he’s using now. I will say a little prayer to the random generator gods. Hope hope!!

  • What I love most about vacations is exploring and, when possible, sampling the new flavors of the places I am visiting!

  • my favorite vacation activity is going for hikes. if we are in a city we hike/walk around the city or try and find their city parks. I love to explore. We for some reason are just as busy on our vacations as we are when we are home/working. It’s all good. The change of scenery/activity is our vacation. ;0) Thanks for the giveaway that IS 1 awesome cup!

  • Beachbeachbeachbeachbeachbeachbeach. I love going to the beach and staring at the water. Mmmmmmm.

  • My favourite vacation is to read and explore the stores. This mug would go perfect with that!

  • Whenever I’m on vacation, I refuse to eat anything I can have at home. So no chain restaurants or anything like that. I try to seek out and find local gems to eat at as often as possible.

  • MY favorite vacation activity is exploring historical sites in the city I’m staying in. I love to see and learn about how people lived in the past. There’s an extra bonus if it includes a ghost tour or ghost stories!

  • ooooh vacations 😀 My favorite thing to do on vacation is explore something new, whether it’s in the city I live in or somewhere else. I live in the Nation’s Capital, so there’s always something new I haven’t seen SOMEWHERE. 🙂

  • I love a lazy vacation in a new place. That means no rigid itineraries, plenty of new food to try and some type of scenery that’s new to me. It could just be something I haven’t seen in a while, not necessarily a completely new place. A hot tub and a beach or lake always make things a little better too 🙂

  • I love staying in a cabin in the woods. I have four boys and to just sit back, relax and let them run and play while enjoying nature feels very calming and energizing.

  • I love to fill my vacation days with adventure and exploration, punctuated with long, leisurely meals of local speciality & local beers!
