Giveaway: Aladdin Original Insulated Mason Tumbler

Aladdin Original Insulated Mason Tumbler

Most of the time, this blog is dedicated to recipes, tutorials, and giveaways that feature items that help you cook, preserve, and keep your kitchen eco-system running smoothly. I focus on local foods, clean cookware, and useful things made from glass, metal, fabric, and wood.

However, once in a great while, something comes along that so thoroughly tickles my fancy that I decide it’s worth writing about, even if it happens to be made of plastic. This new insulated tumbler from Aladdin, made to look like a vintage mason jar, is just such an item.

Please disregard the small dent in the lid. It’s the result of user error and is a good reminder that it’s never wise to put small, crushable things underneath heavy, cast iron cookware during post-dinner clean-up.

I confess, I was totally taken by this tumbler from the very first moment I saw it and immediately contacted Aladdin, to see if they might want to do a giveaway. They were game and sent over four, one for me to use and live with, and three for me to share with my readers.

Having used this BPA-free tumbler for more than a month now, I’m still really enjoying it and the sheer novelty of having a faux jar. I often use it for iced tea and cold glasses of water and do appreciate the insulation (it keeps drinks colder and means that I don’t have to be vigilant about coaster usage).

I realize that this tumbler might not be for all my readers. I know that lots of you are working hard to remove every speck of plastic from your homes and so this item just doesn’t fit into your life. I respect and honor your choices, just as I hope you all will honor the fact that I get some joy from this tumbler and so simply wanted to share it.

If you find yourself equally enchanted by this tumbler and end up getting one yourself (giveaway or not), the nice folks at Aladdin would love to see your pictures of it in action! You can either share them on Pinterest or Facebook.

Now, to the giveaway! I have three of these tumblers to give away (thus, there will be three winners). Here’s how to enter:

  1. Leave a comment on this post. I’m on vacation this week, so please share your very favorite vacation activity (for me, it’s sleeping late and exploring new cities).
  2. Comments will close at 11:59 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Winner will be chosen at random and will be posted to the blog on Sunday.
  3. Giveaway open to all!
  4. One comment per person, please. Entries must be left via the comment form on the blog at the bottom of this post.
Disclosure: Aladdin provided four tumblers, one for my use and three for giveaway, at no cost to me. No money changed hands and all opinions expressed in this blog post are entirely mine.

Sharing is caring!

  • I love sitting outside in the peace and quiet knitting on vacation! To me it doesn’t get better than that.

  • We like going camping, sleeping in late and then hiking for half the day and then spending the other half in the hammock with a book or two.

  • My very favorite vacation activity is taking panaramic photographs of the shoreline when I arrive via boat or airplane. After getting to my destinations I love visiting the local libraries of the places I visit. I know this is totally lame but I love it and it’s interesting to see how libraries differ in different countries. My husband and I are planning a trip to India in 2015 and I cannot wait to see what a library in India looks like. I swoon just thinking about it.

  • My favorite vacation to do is soaking up the culture of the area and finding amazing non touristy restaurants!

  • My favorite vacation activity is exploring cultural differences in local foods and visiting fresh farmers markets where my travels take me, culture thru foods opens up the world for me.

  • My favorite vacation requires a beach.
There is nothing like clear turquoise water and a good book to soothe the soul.
And an Alladin faux canning jar would complete the picture!

  • That mug is just completely adorable.

I think my first favourite thing to do on holidays is sleeping until I wake every day and then having a nap every afternoon (whether I need one or not!). Then there’s reading. Swimming and/or walking, depending on where I am. And, also depending on where I am, spending hours just looking at the view – I love visiting my sister in France for this reason as she lives in the mountains and I find myself making up reasons to walk into certain rooms or past certain windows or out onto the terrace just to look my fill. I have the same reaction when I go back to Dublin and manage to catch sight of the sea, need to keep looking for ages to get my fill. Hope you’re having a lovely holiday.

  • I noticed these while I was out shopping the other and was intrigued, it is nice to know they are bpa free.

My favorite vacation activity is probably finding new awesome food (I’ve been known to plan trips based on food/restaurant locations; I also like to wander grocery stores and notice differences/similarities), followed by the process of picking and reading books.

  • I grew up in the Midwest so I enjoy going there to visit my family. I know, sounds boring but we have a lot of fun! 🙂 Love this blue jar with lid and straw!!!

  • My family consists of me, my mom, her sister, and my two cousins. We like getting together for a home cooked dinner and a few bottles of wine. These dinners go on forever, and after 28 years, I’ve only just learned to not bother making plans for the evening because I never want to leave.

  • Relaxing and enjoying nature and conversations with my love ones (it doesn’t matter where). Also, loving to try local family owned restaurants.

  • Ah, just the thing for fresh lemonade! My thermos is 40 years old and still working
fine, although dented and showing a good patina. What a good idea for travel and
    picnics.

  • My favorite vacation activity is actually a non-activity. I love NOT doing dishes! 🙂

    Thanks!

  • My favorite part of any trip is the beginning. When we are finally ready to go and I am in our car and I click on my seat belt…it is the beginning of a new adventure! That goes for any driving or flying vacation, it all starts with the “click”.

  • I love traveling, exploring and fishing. Just getting out of the city for the day can be a wonderful break.

  • Oh I love this!! The blue color is amazing!!

My favorite vacation activity is sleeping in, by far! But I also love sitting next to a pool or beach with a good book too!

  • My favorite part of a vacation is the people I get to spend time with. Whatever we’re doing (even if it’s nothing at all) it’s more fun with family and friends.

  • My favorite thing to do on vacation is walk around the city, explore, eat, take pictures, and read! Nothing else matters 🙂

  • Hope you are enjoying your vacation! My favourite thing to do on vacation is to try new/local foods, I feel like it rounds out my experience. Loving the tumbler! It combines two of my favourite things. Mason jars and the colour blue!

  • I’m in LOVE with this tumbler and must have one.

My favorite activity would have to be shopping. Small farmers markets or bazaars or street vendors. I especially love over seas chain stores, and any store in any china town. Love it!

  • On the beach with a great book and a glass of wine. A wonderful seafood meal afterwards.

  • In the rare instance I get vacation it is spent in woods foraging, especially for mushrooms and herbs.

  • My vacation is spending time with my farm animals, away from my so called real job!! Looking forward to self sufficient lifestyle soon!

  • I love going to the local grocery or farmer’s market(if there is either). It tells me so much about the place and the people that live or vacation there. Aside from that, eating special meals and sleeping!

  • Since vacation usually means camping for me, my favorite part of camping is waking up early to make breakfast. There’s something about the smells of nature and smoke and breakfast mingling that take me to a happy place.
