2017 Classes and Events

These are all the classes I currently have on my calendar as of March 7, 2017. I am still working on my building my summer season and so will be updating this page as I add more events. Please check back regularly!

March

April

  • April 8 (Philadelphia) – Canning demonstration at the Philly Farm and Food Fest. 1-2 pm. I’ll also be on site all day, signing and selling books.
  • April 25 (West Philadelphia) – Jam making workshop at Spruce Street Commons. I’ll show you how to make honey-sweetened strawberry jam. All participants will go home with a small jar of jam. 7-9 pm. Registration details to come.
  • April 29 (Chestnut Hill) – Pickling workshop at the Morris Arboretum. This is a hands on session, in which we’ll make both shelf-stable vinegar pickles and fermented pickles. Everyone will go home with two jars of jam. 10 am to 12 noon. $40/45. Register here.

May

June

  • June 8 (Mount Airy) – Zucchini preserving workshop at Weavers Way Garage. We’ll talk about all the ways you can pickle and preserve zucchini. In class, we’ll make a batch of zucchini relish. 7-9 pm. Registration details to come.

July

  • July 15 (Lancaster County) – Low temperature pasteurization workshop at Fillmore Container. More details to come.

August

  • August 17 (Mount Airy) – Low sugar stonefruit jam class at Weavers Way Garage. We’ll talk about preserving with lower amounts of sugar, as well as natural sweeteners. In class, we’ll make a batch of low sugar jam. 7-9 pm. Registration details to come.
  • August 19 (Lancaster County) – Tomato canning workshop at Fillmore Container. More details to come.

September

  • September 8-10 (Rhinebeck, NY) – This is my annual workshop at the Omega Institute in the Hudson Valley. More details to come.

Public Demos and Workshops

I am available to teach canning demos at libraries, festivals, and other public events. Fees for those services vary. I am currently booking dates for all of 2017.
