Giveaway: Anolon Vesta Cast Iron 5 Quart Braiser

anolon braiser top

I have a minor cookware obsession. I shop thrift stores for old cast iron skillets. I scan yard sales for vintage Le Creuset or Cousances. And I pick up stainless steel skillets at discount stores, always in the hope of finding a piece that will eclipse all others.

Because of this preoccupation, I find that I’ve become something of a cookware attractor. One more than one occasion, strangers have walked up to me with gifts of grill pans and ancient canning kettles. And last spring at the IACP conference, I unwittingly chose a seat that had been marked as a winner in an Anolon Vesta 5-Quart Cast Iron Braiser giveaway.

I turned in the card that marked me as a winner (there were a number of us that day) along with my mailing information, and several weeks later, this lovely braiser arrived on my doorstep.

The outside is a shiny red and the interior sports a matte black enamel interior. The interior of the lid is studded with raised nubs that are designed to channel flavorful liquid back into the food as it cooks. It conducts heat beautifully, cleans up easily, and makes an excellent small batch jam pan.

Back in June, I ran into the ladies who help Anolon with their PR and gushed about how much I’ve enjoyed this piece of cookware. They were delighted to hear it and asked if I might like to give a couple of them away. I think I said yes before the question was even finished.

So that’s what I’m giving away this week. I have two of these Vesta Braisers for two of you. Here’s how to enter.

  1. Leave a comment on this post and tell me something about your cookware situation. Do you you have very pot and pan you’ve ever dreamed of? Are you a cast iron person, or do you prefer stainless steel? Or perhaps, you’re on a mission to find the perfect skillet to complete your batterie de cuisine.
  2. Comments will close at 11:59 pm east coast time on Saturday, August 8, 2015. The winner will be chosen at random and will be posted to the blog on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
  3. Giveaway is open to US residents only (and is void where prohibited).
  4. One comment per person, please. Entries must be left on the blog, I cannot accept submissions via email.

For more information about Anolon and their cookware, follow them on social media. Here’s where you can find them.

Disclosure: Anolon is providing the two braisers I’m giving away at no cost to me. Additionally, the one you see photographed here was itself a giveaway prize, so I did not pay for it. However, no money has traded hands in order to bring this giveaway into being. This blog post exists simply because this is an excellent product and I’m happy to have an opportunity to share it with you guys. All opinions expresses are entirely my own.

I’ve been wanting a good jam pot for a couple years – ever since I’ve been canning…though never could defend the expense. This would fit the bill! Wishing myself good luck!

I love cooking with cast iron cookware, I have a few prized vintage pieces that are work horses when it comes time to create delicious meals for friends and family. I love to braise and create slow simmered soups and sauces in my kitchen with cast iron cookware.

I love my cast iron pot (Le Creuset) but it is huge. I also like my stainless steel sauté pan. Each has their own place in my cooking!

I am pan hoarder as well! Got a stash of cast irons I use daily. Another stash of thrift store and yard sale finds waiting for me to de-rust, season and return them to a glorious shine. I couldn’t live without my enamel Dutch ovens and stainless steal saucepans! Man, would I love this braiser!

Oh, this is so beautiful! I have a few cast iron pans that were in my family and I enjoy the fact that you can use them stovetop and in the oven. Otherwise, my cookware is just serviceable. I’d love to have a few more quality cooking pieces.

I love my le crueset dutch oven for making big pots of soup. I’m on the hunt for a perfect medium sized sauce pan for all of the jobs that are too small for the d.o. but too big for my 1 qt.

I have a nonstick set that is in need of replacing. I’ve also fallen in love with enameled cast iron and am working on building that collection. I would honestly have to give this to my sister though; I’m slowly converting her to cast iron and I’m sure this would go a long way towards that! 🙂

Believe it or not, I replaced our very, very worn out pots with Anolon a couple of years ago after reading about your experiences with them. We’ve been very, very happy, though I need a new applesauce pot (a huge one) and the hunt for the perfect jam pot continues. After the last week I’m also thinking about investing in a splatter shield. Tomato jam hurts!

Cast iron for everything in my house!

I would love a Le Creuset/or similar enameled cast iron pot. I have a few cast iron pans, and a nice magnalite pan, but I too always hope for a “find” at a flea market, or tag sale!

I was recently given an enameled cast iron dutch oven, and I LOVE cooking in it! Other than that, I just have a few scattered remnants of hand-me-down pots and pans. I would really enjoy cooking in this new pan!

I have several wonderful cast iron skillets of various sizes that are wonderful for cooking just about everything!

    Charlie mcmasters says:

I use a mixture of cast iron, stainless, and I believe it’s a cast aluminium(?) Waring Pot from the 50’s that is my go to pot for most large cooking needs. I have found that some are good for certain items, and some are good for others. I’ve been wanting both a griddle pan and a enameled cast iron pan for quite some time. I love both the look and the versatility of the enamel ware, from stove to oven.

    J Eden says:

Love cooking and canning. My best pot was an oval shaped one that was great for so much. Unfortunately I had to retire it after many years due to the coating on the inside breaking down and have not been able to find another one like it

There is no better accent color in a kitchen than red! Love it! Our current cookware is well past it’s expiration date!

    Jenell says:

I’m hoping to start my cast iron collection, and think a braiser this size would be a perfect first piece.

    Marilyn says:

Love to use a variety of cookware in the kitchen. Different pots vary as to how they cook each food. It’s fun to discover the perfect pot or pan for the job. Can’t do without my LeCreuset pots inherited from mom, but also love stainless steel. Never tried Analon. Another adventure awaits.☺️
