Giveaway: OmniMount iPad Case and Adjustable Stand

omnimount box

For the last couple years, my husband and I have had an iPad that lived in our kitchen. It was a first generation device and it had a number of our favorite recipes bookmarked for easy access. However, one day I had it wedged between a bottle of olive oil and a jar of mustard when I knocked into the counter hard enough to upset my make-do stand and it fell to the floor. No more kitchen iPad.

Since then, I’ve been bringing my real iPad into the kitchen with me when I needed to access online recipes. I’ve been incredibly careful to ensure that it doesn’t meet the same fate as that other much-missed tablet, but I’m always a little nervous that something is going to happen to it.

Knowing all this, you’re sure to understand that when a rep from OmniMount got in touch, asking if I might like to try out one of their iPad mounts, I said yes. What’s so cool about theses products is that they can either be freestanding holders or you can mount them to a wall or underneath a cabinet.

I’ve been using the OmniMount as a stand for my iPad Air for at least six weeks and I love it. It keeps the iPad securely at an accessible and readable angle, while ensuring that it stays out of the puddle of water that collects next to the sink.

We were going to mount it on the wall next to the primary work surface in our kitchen, but we’ve been doing some tentative house hunting and so decided that it was best to hold off on installation until we have a better idea as to how life will unfold.

iPad on omnimount

Here’s the fun part for you guys. I have two of these OmniMounts to give away. One holds an iPad Air and the other holds an iPad Mini. So, here’s how to enter.

  1. Leave a comment on this post and tell me about your kitchen technology habits. Do you use an iPad or other tablet while cooking? Do you stick with your phone? Or do you print recipes you find online?
  2. Comments will close at 11:59 pm eastern time on Saturday, May 24, 2015. Winners will be chosen at random and will be posted to the blog soon thereafter.
  3. Giveaway open to United States and Canadian residents. Void where prohibited.
  4. One comment per person, please. Entries must be left via the comment form on the blog at the bottom of this post.

Disclosure: OmniMount sent me one of their iPad mounts for photography and review purposes. They are also providing the units for this giveaway. All opinions remain entirely my own.

I do the same! My 1st gen ipad is my recipe book. Cork floors so it’s survived, but I’d love to use the NYT cooking app that won’t install on the 1st gen but I’m too nervous to bring my air in the kitchen.

I have the same worry as Mary Scott. My wife and I print out all our recipes, for fear of spills or dropping. Keeping the iPad protected and up off the counter would be such a help.

I used to use my phone for recipes, but I now have an iPad mini. So it gets put on the counter far away from cooking to avoid spilling anything on it. I come and go so this neat stand would be awesome. Thanks for the chance,

I love web surfing for new recipes. When I find something appealing, I take a screen shot of the ingredients and send it to my phone. Then I know I exactly what I need to have on hand when I’m grocery shopping.

I either print a recipe or just jot down a quick list of ingredients and amounts. We’ve only recently acquired an iPad, so I’m still learning.

I cook with my ipad which gets covered with sticky fingerprints by having to turn it on every few minutes.

I use my Ipad (air) and my phone interchangably when I cook- sometimes I have two recipes I can’t decide between and this way I can have them both open and decide which ingredient (or how much of something) I want to use. Both sit on my butcherblock table while i cook and yes- there have been a few accidents.. sigh…

    Tess Lecuyer says:

I jot from the laptop onto 3×5 cards. Not the best because I miss an ingredient sometimes.
Am getting a tablet next week!!

I use a combo of laptop, phone, printouts… no single good system. I save a lot of recipes in evernote, and after I’ve made them more than once, they get jotted down to a binder. This is a neat gadget.

    Katie H. says:

The household iPad is pretty much my husband’s, so it’s rare to enjoy the big ol’ screen while I’m cooking. Instead, I set my iPhone lock screen to not come on for 5 minutes (or never go on if it’s a new recipe) so minimize how often I need to unlock my little phone with floury, wet, buttery fingers.

    Laura H says:

I use both my iPad and my iPhone the prefer the iPad because it’s bigger.

  26. 126
    Marsha says:

I’d like to use my iPad while cooking, but I’m always so worried about getting it wet or dropping it that I usually end up printing out the recipe instead. Having one of these stands would help me save a few more trees! 🙂

    Aislinn says:

Despite an ever growing cookbook collection, I do most of my cooking from blog recipes. I think it’s because it’s easier to stay seasonal and relevant? My iPad is always in the kitchen for recipes and music, in the line of fire for grease splatters and frequently bumped.

  28. 128
    Kim says:

I’ve been simply writing out recipes, but I recently won a Kindle and am anxious to use it in the kitchen!

I listen to podcasts or Pandora on my phone when I am cooking or canning in the kitchen, and use my iPad mini for recipes. I would put that iPad stand to good use!

I sometimes use my iPad in the kitchen – especially when I’m trying a recipe for the first time. If a recipe turns out to be a ‘keeper’, then I’ll print a copy to put in my recipe binder.

I’m with you. An old iPad has little on it but my recipes and Paprika, my favorite recipe app!

For music, I just got Amazon’s Echo which is amazing! You can use verbal commands to pause it, raise and lower volume, play anything from the Amazon Music Prime library or your own iTunes list!!

I built a make-shift iPhone holder by stretching rubber bands between four sanction cup hooks against the tile backing to strap the iPhone to the wall. It’s a little precarious, but I manage to reference recipes or watch the next Star Trek episode for Random Trek (thanks, Scott, for tweeting this!) while washing dishes or cooking. I have been to nervous to bring the iPad in, so far!

Desperately hoping that it’s Sunday, May 24 that closes this one. this is a device I need. Yesterday, the boys were watching the Eurovision final on my iPad, so I set my laptop up in the kitchen for my baking. It ended up on the floor (it survived), due to an unexpected door opening (I really thought I had put it somewhere safe). Oh my gosh – I have gone almost completely to cooking from my saved recipes in Pinterest or Pocket.
